【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefulasarapid,nondestructivetechniqueforthecalculationofthein-placedensityofsoilandrockatdesireddepthsbelowthesurfaceasopposedtosurfacemeasurementsinaccordancewithTestMethodD6938.Thistestmethodisusefulforinformationalandresearchpurposes.ItshouldonlybeusedforqualitycontrolandacceptancetestingwhencorrelatedtootheracceptedmethodssuchasTestMethodD2937.Thenon-destructivenatureofthetestmethodallowsrepetitivemeasurementstobemadeatasingletestlocationforstatisticalanalysisandtomonitorchangesovertime.ThefundamentalassumptionsinherentinthistestmethodarethatComptonscatteringandphotoelectricabsorptionarethedominantinteractionsofthegammarayswiththematerialundertest.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardtestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection,andthelike.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthecalculationofthedensityofsoilandrockbytheattenuationofgammaradiation,wherethegammasourceandthegammadetectorareplacedatthedesireddepthinaboredholelinedbyanaccesstube.1.1.1ForlimitationsseeSection5onInterference.1.2Thedensity,inmassperunitvolumeofthematerialundertest,iscalculatedbycomparingthedetectedrateofgammaradiationwithpreviouslyestablishedcalibrationdata(seeAnnexA1).1.3Aprecisionstatementhasnotbeendevelopedforthisstandardatthistime.Therefore,thisstandardshouldnotbeusedforacceptanceorrejectionofamaterialforpurchasignpurposesunlesscorrelatedtootheracceptedASTMstandards.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsareregardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonlyandmaybeapproximate.1.5AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguideforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.5.1Theproceduresusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected,recorded,andcalculatedinthisstandardareregardedastheindustrystandard.Inaddition,theyarerepresentativeofthesignificantdigitsthatshouldgenerallyberetained.Theproceduresuseddonotconsidermaterialvariation,purposeforobtainingthedata,specialpurposestudies,oranyconsiderationsfortheuserx2019;sobjectives;anditiscommonpracticetoincreaseorreducesignificantdigitsofreporteddatatobecommensuratewiththeseconsiderations.Itisbeyondthescopeofthisstandardtoconsidersignificantdigitsusedinanalysismethodsforengineeringdesign.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection7,x201C;Hazards.x201D;
